Financial Support

DFG covers travel expenses and provides subsistence costs for the stay in Germany, ensuring a focus on research and collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold a PhD obtained not earlier than 2019.
  • Be a national of a sub-Saharan African country, including South Africa, and hold a research position there.
  • Applicants already in Germany or with established collaboration with the intended host are not eligible.
  • Women scientists are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications must be submitted via the online portal. Required documents include a scanned copy of your passport and a recent invitation letter from a German host.

The application deadline is 5 June 2024. Visits must be undertaken within 12 months of the award.
